Discover Danilack

The Danilack Middle School, at the Hurwich Education Centre, is a dynamic and exciting place of learning catering to the needs of adolescents. Our students are challenged with a rigorous dual curriculum. They are supported as they develop their independence, inspired as they further develop their Jewish identity, and celebrated as they become accomplished and active young Jewish adults.

Danilack is the only distinct Jewish Middle School, and the only Ministry-inspected Jewish Middle School, in the GTA, offering a Reach Ahead high school credit course for Grade 8 students. Our outstanding high school preparatory program graduates independent thinkers, engaged Jewish student leaders, and accomplished scholars who are ready to excel wherever their journey takes them.

Academics

  • Math enrichment curriculum and enrichment opportunities, including international competitions
  • Public speaking program for all students
  • Levelled Hebrew classes to meet students’ varied language abilities
  • Technological integration with guided use of Google Classroom, interactive presentation software, and SMARTBoards in every classroom
  • One-to-one Chromebook program
  • Teleconference and online learning forum for enriched Torah and Talmud learning with educators in Israel

Student Life

The Danilack Middle School has a high-school-like atmosphere with different classes and teachers for different subjects. When we say our school has something for everyone, we mean it! There are over 25 staff-supervised clubs, from Glee and Band to the D’var Danilack Newsletter and the Debate team. Student leadership opportunities are plentiful and include Student Council, Student Ambassadors, and Athletic Council.


The Jewish concepts of Tikkun Olam and Derech Eretz are integrated into much of the School’s activities, both at school and in our community.

 Our athletics program encourages as many students as possible to participate in a variety of sports. Our competitive teams include soccer, ultimate Frisbee, ice hockey, basketball, cross country, softball, and volleyball. Additionally, lunchtime intramural sports are open to all students, as well as open gym time and our charity basketball tournament, Hurwich Hoops.

Grade-wide trips are a highlight in every grade and include a Grade 6, 7, & 8 trip to Snow Valley; Grade 6 trip to Camp Robin Hood; Grade 7 Shabbaton; and Grade 8 graduation trip.

Introducing the Maalot Stream
at Associated's Danilack Middle School

We are excited to introduce Associated Hebrew Schools’ new Maalot stream at the Danilack Middle School. All Judaic Studies courses in this stream will be taught in English, aimed at those without any prior background knowledge, along with Hebrew language learning suited to whatever level they are at.
 
Maalot Stream students will of course join their peers for the same high-quality and cutting-edge General Studies classes that AHS is known for.
 
Maalot Stream students in Grades 6-8 will participate in AHS’s vibrant and welcoming community, develop meaningful connections with their Jewish identity, and thrive in a Jewish peer group where they can achieve their personal best.
